Les missions du poste
What is Shotgun?
Shotgun is a leading platform dedicated to empowering live music event organizers and touring artists, driving the future of the live music industry. Our mission is to build the infrastructure that enables live music to thrive.
We provide powerful tools to sell tickets, build strong brands, and connect with fans in meaningful ways. From 2020 to 2025, Shotgun achieved rapid growth with GMV increasing 25× and revenue growing 40×, leading the company to profitability. Today, we support more than 10,000 clients and engage over 8,000,000 users across Europe, the US, and LATAM.
In the past seven years, Shotgun has raised €10M from Newfund, Venrex, One RagTime, Creator Collective, and BPI Culture Fund. We are a lean and dynamic team of 90 people, with offices in Paris, Miami, São Paulo, Lisbon, and Marseille. Our culture is built on passion, commitment, ownership, and humility.
The Role
As Shotgun grows, so does our ambition. We're branching out into new territories, inaugurating fresh ventures, and, in the process, assembling new teams. Our pathway to success lies in our analytical rigor and exhaustive exploration of every opportunity.
As a Software Engineer in the newly formed Money & Compliance Squad, you'll join the Platform Tribe to own one of the most critical and most demanding layers of our business: the payment platform that powers every transaction across our marketplace. You'll work deep in the payment stack, including Stripe integrations, webhook-driven asynchronous flows, ledgering, payouts to organizers across multiple jurisdictions, tax and invoicing logic, refund and chargeback handling.
In live music industry, we don't deal with steady-state traffic: on-sale moments for major events generate massive, unpredictable bursts where thousands of concurrent buyers hit the payment path within seconds, and our systems have to clear every transaction reliably under that load.
On top of that, the complexity of operating a global marketplace keeps increasing: clients and regulators across every country we operate in expect us to absorb that complexity on their behalf. Your mission is to build a resilient, scalable payment platform and drive regulatory compliance across all our markets.
What you will do
- Design, build, and operate the core payment platform (Stripe and other PSP integrations, webhook consumers, ledgering, retries, and reconciliation) that every other squad plugs into
- Make our payment path resilient under heavy traffic spikes, especially during on-sale moments, with load-shedding, queuing, and async confirmation flows that keep the buyer experience smooth
- Strengthen our asynchronous architecture around PSP webhooks: handle out-of-order events, replays, partial failures and so on
- Model and evolve complex money flows across multiple countries, currencies, and stakeholders: split payments, payouts, refunds and chargebacks, marketplace fees, VAT and sales tax across Europe, the US, and LATAM
- Drive regulatory and compliance topics end-to-end and turn them into durable, scalable product solutions
- Bring compliance work into product-owned systems, with proper data models, audit trails, and automation
- Partner closely with the rest of the squad and stakeholders across legal, finance, ops, and other engineering squads, surfacing compliance and scalability implications
The job is for you if
- You have significant experience with Stripe or another PSP (Adyen, Mangopay, Braintree, etc.) in production
- You have strong knowledge of asynchronous, event-driven architectures, with a clear sense of how to keep PSP webhooks correct at scale
- You're comfortable designing for spiky traffic patterns and have shipped systems that hold up when traffic jumps significantly in a short window
- You have a strong grasp of complex money flows and how to model them properly (ledgers, split payments, multi-currency, fees, refunds, and the usual pitfalls)
- Compliance and regulation are product problems to you and you're comfortable engaging directly with legal, finance, and business stakeholders
- You're pragmatic about technical debt and bug volume, and prefer investing in the right abstraction over patching a leaky one
- You have a prior experience working with international teams on money, compliance, and local regulations
- You believe in measuring what matters: you define clear SLIs and SLOs for the systems you own, track them rigorously and share the numbers with stakeholders
- Note to women and underrepresented groups: We value diversity because it's essential for creativity and healthy growth. If you don't meet 100% of the requirements but are excited by this role, please apply
